Advanced Automation in a Cost-Controlled Enclosure

As part of its extensive 2023-2027 network expansion, Elektrilevi faced an influx of medium-voltage commercial customers and renewable energy producers needing rapid grid connection.

Managing these complex connections required advanced functionality, including commercial metering, feeder terminals, and smart remote-control automation.

The engineering challenge lay in fitting all of these sophisticated primary and secondary automation systems into an enclosure without skyrocketing capital expenditure or deployment timelines. A standard vendor solution would have resulted in an over-engineered, prohibitively expensive substation footprint.

Solution

Redesigned Concrete Enclosure with Precision Component Selection

Harju Elekter developed a newly updated, highly cost-effective HEKA C concrete substation configuration. Our engineering teams systematically redesigned our traditional concrete enclosure and expertly sourced a precise mix of protection relays, RTU modules, and fault-pass indicators that matched Elektrilevi’s stringent technical parameters.

By modifying the physical concrete design and carefully balancing component selection, we successfully integrated extensive primary switchgear (up to 5+5 bays), commercial metering, and smart remote grid-adjustment technology into a single, economically streamlined enclosure.
