How we engineered a high-capacity 2500 A Siemens SIVACON S8 low-voltage distribution board to meet the space and cooling constraints of Finnish compact secondary substations.
Location:
Engineering and manufacturing of a compact, high-capacity Siemens SIVACON S8 low-voltage main distribution board for compact secondary substations (CSS), designed for integration with a 1600 kVA transformer.
High-Current Power Distribution in a Restricted Substation Footprint.
Expanding Finland’s local electricity networks requires higher power distribution capacity, often within existing compact secondary substation designs. Accommodating a 1600 kVA transformer and a 2500 A low-voltage distribution board in a confined enclosure presents significant spatial and thermal challenges.
Limited ventilation makes heat management particularly important. The customer needed a reliable distribution solution capable of handling high electrical loads while maintaining a compact installation footprint and supporting safe, efficient operation.
Space-Optimised Siemens SIVACON S8 Switchgear with Efficient Thermal Design.
Harju Elekter engineered a customised low-voltage main distribution board based on the Siemens SIVACON S8 platform.
The configuration combines 2500 A main busbars with a motorised Siemens 3WL1225 air circuit breaker and outgoing fuse switch-disconnectors rated from 125 A to 630 A.
Using our in-house sheet metal manufacturing and advanced busbar processing capabilities, we optimised the internal arrangement to make efficient use of available space and minimise electrical resistance and associated heat generation.
The result was a compact switchgear configuration tailored to the installation and cooling requirements of Finnish secondary substations.
Reliable 2500 A Power Distribution Within a Compact Design.
The customer received a high-capacity low-voltage distribution solution designed to support a 1600 kVA transformer within the limited space of a compact secondary substation.
The Siemens SIVACON S8 configuration combines flexible outgoing feeder arrangements with space-efficient construction and thermal management, supporting reliable local electricity distribution.
The project demonstrates Harju Elekter’s ability to adapt proven Siemens switchgear technology to demanding Nordic grid infrastructure applications.
